Now That's What I Call Commitment!

I want to share with you an inspiring story about a lady named Sonja from Abu Dhabi in just a moment but first, let me ask you...

On a scale of 1-10 how committed are you to the success of your business, right now...Today? When is the last time you were really 100% committed to doing whatever it takes to grow your business to the next level? You might think that's a strange question. Perhaps you believe you are always 100% committed. So let me ask this another way. When is the last time you made an excuse not to do what you knew was important to your success because you felt too tired, too broke, too overwhelmed, too busy, too distracted or too_______________ (you fill in the blank)?

I recently had the privilege of meeting a woman whom I consider a perfect '10' in terms of commitment. Her name is Sonja and she lives in Abu Dhabi which is located in the United Arab Emarites.

Sonja applied for my Dialing for Dollars Workshop and when I saw where she was located and noted the time zone difference, I thought the workshop probably wouldn't work for her.  But I've learned never to make decisions (or excuses) for other people so I called her up. We chatted about her goals and what she most wanted to gain from the workshop and we agreed it was a perfect fit. Although Sonja would have to be getting up at 3:00 in the morning 5 days in a row and dialing into our conference line from half-way around the planet, she made the commitment.

And that's not the end of it. Sonja was always the first one on the webinar, always ready to volunteer and was the first to step up and start interviewing prospects live in front of the rest of the participants. She made a commitment to play full out and as a result she grew tremendously.

Here's what Sonja wrote to me after the workshop:

Hi Tracy,

As you know, I recently took part in your Dialing4Dollars Workshop. What an incredible experience !

Being new in the Network Marketing arena, I found myself hesitating ; not knowing the best way to build a successful network marketing business of my own. I found myself constantly wondering if I'm doing it right and what the next best step will be to success. As a result many precious hours have been lost.

After this workshop I can truly say that I have learnt (and am continuing to learn daily) how to be more focused and which actions I have to take on a daily basis in order to be successful. First, Rome was not built in a day --so take one step at a time; but in the right direction. I am learning how to use my contact manager as well as the basic script when speaking to prospects. Using the contact manager helps to keep me on track without hundreds of post-its all over the house. I have a "do not disturb" sign--so my family knows when I am busy.

When prospecting-always end on a positive call !! I found this so important because. You feel successful and next time I only have positive memories --no negatives. Reward myself--This will take a while...

I have structure to my business and I keep track of all my actions to stimulate growth in my business. This prompts me to do more toward building my business and spend less time doing things around my business that is not productive to business growth.

I cannot thank you and your team enough for this precious information that will lead to my success!

So much to learn but day by day; in every way; I'm getting better and better.

Many thanx,

Sonja and family.

You've probably heard me say it before, "You can't make excuses and money at the same time!" The next time you find your self in the excuse mode, think of Sonja and her commitment. Hopefully it will inspire you as much as it has me!

My next Dialing for Dollars Live Webinar Workshop starts Oct. 19th! If you're truly committed to taking your business to the next level, I invite you to apply. How Can You Make this Your Best Season Ever?

In case you hadn't noticed, school is back in session and though it may not feel like it quite yet, summer break is over. While that might seem a little sad, it's also exciting!

This is the HOTTEST season in network marketing. People are reviewing the first half of the year and realizing they need to kick it up to meet their goals for the year. It's the final stretch!

People are also beginning to realize the holidays are right around the corner and they're thinking about the extra money they'll need for vacations and gift giving. NOW is the perfect time to re-LAUNCH your business with increased vigor and fervor. Plus you could literally be a life saver to many others who are looking for ways to increase their income right NOW!!!

Why not set a new goal for yourself? How many lives will you save this week, this month, this season?

With your permission, I'd like to help you! In my 20 + years in this industry and the thousands of people I've had to the privilege of working and mentoring with I've detected five basic problems that prevent people from getting the success they so badly desire and richly deserve.

Problem #1 - Fear of the Phone

Problem #2 - Not Knowing What to Say to Prospects

Problem #3 - Lack of Consistent Follow-up

Problem #4 - Procrastination or Poor Time Management Skills

Problem #5 - Lack of Support

Last month I had my first-ever Dialing for Dollars Live Workshop and it was a HUGE success for the participants! 100% said it met or exceeded their expectations and 100% said they'd recommend it to others. They also reported that it was the perfect blend of Hands-On Live Dialing to Prospects combined with content rich training on:

  • Overcoming Fear of the Phone - Once & for All!
  • Contact Management
  • Time Management
  • Follow-Up Skills
  • Overcoming Procrastination
  • Mastering 3-way Calling
  • Overcoming Objections
  • Closing & Enrolling
  • Empowered Leadership

All of this and more in addition to over  5 Hours of LIVE Dialing to Prospects in my learn-as-you-earn training approach (and I paid for the leads!)

I'm taking applications NOW for my second Dialing for Dollars Workshop Intensive. I'll only be accepting 10 people so I can give them one-on-one coaching and plenty of leads. I'll give you the information to apply in just a moment but first...

...Check this out:

“This training was in the top 5 of all the training I've had in Network Marketing. It opened my eyes to another area of marketing. I'm also more focused on my cold calling then ever before.”

“What I learned, I absolutely needed to learn to flourish in this industry. For me, I've been to many workshops, and this is the first one that has ever helped my confidence! I finished the workshop with the tools I need to excel in Internet marketing, but the bonus is that my anxiety about phoning is gone and I'm able to be myself and relax.”

Tina Jo Stephens, Mexico
Zrii,  www.weareabundance.com

"The D4D Workshop Intensive experience was great and I know I benefited greatly and learned a lot from you and my fellow participants. Your sincerity in the way you worked on the phone and one on one with each of us was awesome, empowering and made each of us feel valued. I now know how to call prospects and what to say to them. I no longer have that "fear of calling" and the phone no longer weighs a thousand pounds . As a result of the workshop I know I can do it. "When I smile and dial... I will build my money pile" and "SW, SW, SW, SW ... next!" Anyone who wants to build a home-based networking business over the phone can not go wrong with this workshop.
Thank you, Tracy!"

The Power of One Connection

Have you ever considered the power that just one connection can make in your business and your life? Once you start to notice this you'll make an effort to get out and connect even more than you currently do. Recently I met a woman named Stephanie Mulac at a business event and from that one chance meeting, three major business deals were forged.

As I thought back on how it all began I realized how powerful our thoughts and intentions are and that even when we might be scared to move forward, if we just trust ourselves and go for it, amazing things will happen!

In January 2006 I was sitting in my hot tub setting some goals for the year (I always do my best manifestation work in the water!). One of the goals I put out there was to work with Internet Marketing Guru, Tellman Knudson. I think it was the very next day that I received an email from Tellman inviting his list to apply for the Internet Marketer's Death Match. He was planning to throw 5 marketers into a virtual boxing ring (on a conference call) and let them duke it out over some pretty intense questions on Internet Marketing. Whomever got the most votes from the listeners would win the match and go on to compete against Alex Mandossian.

Now I have to tell you, I got excited and nervous all at once! Here was my chance to work with Tellman! But man! Were my marketing skills up to snuff to go at it under intense pressure with 4 other big shots? And what if I won??? Going against Alex Mandossian... could that be ring side suicide for me?

Well...I decided not too think about it too much and to just DO IT! In fact, I didn't even tell Pat (my husband) until after I applied in case he tried to bring me to my senses! I had asked to work with Tellman and now here was my chance...I couldn't very well slap the universe in the face, now could I? (You know what they say...be careful what you ask for!)

So I applied. A few days later I received the email from Tellman; I was accepted. No turning back now! As it turned out, I PULVERIZED my opponents and WON! After the instant rush and gratification, it hit me. Next week I had to jump in the ring with Alex Mandossian, one of the most revered marketers on the Internet. Alex, the reigning champ was competing as Alex "CHAINSAW" Mandossian. I couldn't just show up as little ol' me so that's the day "POWER GAL" was born! Nice ring to it, Tracy "Power Gal" Monteforte Co Founder of WTPowers.com. Just saying it built my confidence.

Well, believe it or not, after 45 min of intense head-to-head, knock-down-drag-out, jargon-slinging, intellectual marketing combat, I was pronounced the winner! (There's more to this story...but that I'll save for another time.) ;-)

For the next several weeks I returned to the ring to compete with other marketers. I even got to choose a partner to spice things up and my coach Melanie Strick from SuccessConnections.com and I knocked out every male team they threw into the ring with us. Today, we're the undefeated reigning champs! In fact Tellman quit the Death Match altogether and it's my firm contention the guys just couldn't hang with the fact that the women were running circles around them.

But that's not what I'm here to tell you about. Long story, long...one of the contenders was Harris Fellman. Even though we clobbered him and his partner (tee hee) Harris and I became friends and stayed in touch via Instant Messenger. We shared marketing tips, bounced ideas, coached each other, etc. for the next year. Harris became a great friend and resource to me.

This past May, Harris invited me to The Launch Masters Retreat at his home in Arizona as a VIP trainer for a small group of Internet Marketers planning their next product launches. One of the other VIP guests there was Stephanie Mulac. Now, Stephanie and I didn't spend a lot of personal time together but we did share some battle stories of when we first started in business. I wasn't trying to sell Stephanie anything and she wasn't trying to sell me. We were just connecting and relating with absolutely zero agenda.

After the retreat, I sent a greeting card to everyone who attended with pictures I had taken of us all there. I always follow up with cards to further fortify my new relationships. Shortly after Stephanie called me. She had a client who needed some services that we provide so she made the introduction and a very significant partnership was forged. And now we have two other ventures inked and in progress as well. One connection, three business deals. Not bad!

When Stephanie shared with me why she chose to do business with us it really surprised me. She said it didn't have to do with any pitch I had given at the Retreat, or even the training I did. She said it was the battle stories I shared. The story of the struggles we encountered when starting WTPowers and the fact that we endured. She resonated with my story. She could relate. And she valued our resourcefulness and tenacity. It made us real.

Three joint ventures from one connection and this is just the beginning of the business we will do with Stephanie. There are so many lessons in this story, that's why I am excited to share it with you.

1. Take the time to set your INTENTIONS
2. Exercise SENSORY AWARENESS so you notice when your intentions are being answered!
3. Overcome any fear by JUST DOING IT!
4. Step into your new role and CLAIM IT!
5. Connect with people authentically - LISTEN with no agenda
6. Follow-up as simply as sending a card or making a phone call
7. Be OPEN to the power of POSSIBILITY!

Intention ---> Tellman ---> Harris -->> Stephanie ---> 3 Joint Ventures
--->> What's Next?!?!

There are all kinds of off-shoots to this story too... Alex M. and I are pretty good friends now and discussing a future JV. Pretty cool stuff!

What kinds of connections are you making, and how are you nurturing them? What small step can you take right now?

Please leave your comment below!

Do You Have a "Why" Day?

Yesterday was a very important day for me. It's was son Caleb's birthday. For me it's much more than a day for cake and ice cream and presents. It's not just about Caleb turning a year older, it's my "WHY" day.

On June 17th 1987, the day Caleb was born, I was faced with a life-changing decision. I had to decide whether or not to go back to teaching that fall and leave this precious little boy in the hands of someone else for the majority of my waking hours.

Jobs weren't easy to come by in my town and I knew if I left, I may never be hired as a teacher again. But my calling as a mother was the stronger pull. Twenty-one years later, I look back without a single regret. Just as one door closes, another opens. Shortly after quitting my job, I was introduced to network marketing.

As I started my new business, I was uncertain and nervous about redefining myself and what I stood for. But one thing I became crystal clear about right away, quitting was not an option! Every time doubt crept in, I looked into my little boy's face and reviewed my options, which always drove me back to the  phone with a renewed sense of purpose.

Do you have a "WHY" day?

Establishing your "WHY" is the single most important step in starting and succeeding in your home-based business. Why? Because one thing I can promise you, there will be challenges! The road to success is not without potholes!

However, with a keen desire and focused dedication, you can learn to smoothly navigate any distraction in your path. In fact, you'll even learn to view the bumps as opportunities to learn and grow!

Here's Your Home Play:

-[> Determine your "WHY" Today!

Get A Notebook and make it a nice one that you'll enjoy working in. This will become your road map to success and will be with you through the duration of your journey.

Find a nice quiet place without any distractions. Prepare to spend at least 30 minutes on this exercise. Don't worry about how your answers sound. Just free flow write. This is fun and can be very revealing!

Ask Yourself the following questions and write them down:

-[> 1.) If I didn't have to work for a living what would I love to do?

-[> 2.) If I were given $10 million dollars (tax free!) what would I do with it? (Of course you'd pay the bills, but after that) No limits here, write it ALL down!

-[> 3.) If I just found out I had six (healthy) months to live, what would I do with the rest of my life (your "Bucket List")?

Identifying Your "WHY" Helps You Define Your True Purpose In Life!

Now try to determine the essence of these desires. Ask yourself, "if I did this, or had that, what would it bring to me?" These thoughts should reveal to you the lifestyle you want and the type of person you aspire to be.

When you know your purpose, you can put passion behind it. When you move forward with passion, there's no stopping you and others will be attracted to follow you! Therein lies the key to success in your home-based business!

Make a commitment to yourself to pursue your life's purpose and create the lifestyle you want. Become the person you desire to be. Your purpose and the passion that flows from it, is what will empower you, no matter how bumpy the road gets! I know, I've been there!

Here is a picture of Caleb on my WHY DAY (his 21st birthday, June 17th, 2008) with his vegan chocolate raspberry cake   Yummy!!! (click on photo to enlarge it.)Calebs21stbday_7

Have a happy "Why" day!

How Commited are YOU to YOUR Success?

Recently we attended Derek Gehl's Interenet Marketing Wealth Seminar in Los Angeles, California. Pat and are big believers that to continue growing your business, you must continually dip into the soup of knowledge and stay current with the ever-changing trends in your market...so we attend a lot of events. And it always makes a difference! I came home with three notebooks of information that we can apply to our business.

You can't make excuses and money at the same time!

Just like you, we are busy people. We could make an endless list of excuses why we don't have the time or the bandwidth to attend an event. But it always comes back to this: You can't make excuses and money at the same time!

On a scale of 1-10 What's Your Commitment Level?

We met a lot of remarkable people at the seminar, some of whom we've reconnected with already and will continue to network with for years to come. One of those people was a man named Richard. What stood out about Richard was not his Internet Marketing Saavy as he is a beginner, just starting to explore his options. What impressed us about Richard, was his commitment level. On a scale of 1-10, Richard is a perfect 10!

It's our pleasure to introduce you to Richard. Please view the video below to see what we mean about Richard's commitment level.

See what we mean about Richard?

What can you do TODAY to re-commit to your SUCCESS?

Please share your ideas in the COMMENTS area below. We always LOVE to hear from you!

From my son's podcast: What Can the Entrepreneur Learn from the Starving Artist?

This recent post on my son's podcast really resonated with me so I'd like to share it with you as well.

Are you as passionate about your business as a musician is his or her music or a painter his or her paintings? If you’re not, you might as well stop reading now – but if you truly care about your business, you must treat it as art.

In school, I once heard this quote:

“Art is everything except things inherently necessary to survival and procreation.”

In this sense, a caveman running from a tiger is not art. Climbing into the tree to escape the tiger is not art either, but the moment he realizes he has outsmarted his hunter and mocks the tiger with a taunting face or gesture from his perch – that is art.

In this very same sense, your business is art. Sure, it brings in money and affords you the ability to eat, have shelter and otherwise provide for yourself – but going into a business for yourself wasn’t purely an act of survival.

Think about it – could you physically continue living is you had stayed in your job?

Going into business was an act of art because it went beyond the basic needs and genetic programming of survival and procreation. You went above and beyond the bare essentials to create the life that you wanted and to fill a need in the world – much like a painter or sculptor creates based on creative desire.

For this reason, it only makes sense to be as dedicated to the needs of your business as the artist is his or her work.

As a budding musician in high school, I remember saving up and spending my last dollar (literally) on a new Gibson Les Paul guitar. It felt good because I knew that tool would help me in my artistic endeavors for years to come. There are plenty of painters who eat top ramen just so they can afford art supplies.

Here’s the big difference between you and the starving artist – you have the ability to make your investments pay off, big time! Most musicians and artists will never see a dime from their time and money spent on their art and they are perfectly happy just creating it. You have the advantage in this situation because as long as you invest wisely, it can pay off over and over down the line.

So - by now you’re probably thinking, what does this all have to do with audio and video anyway?

I’ve met so many business owners who are afraid to invest in new marketing strategies or to create new information products because of the initial cost. What they fail to see is that in order to make great paintings, you must buy new paint every once and a while.

Here are a few things you can invest a little bit of time and money in that are sure to result in more profits and more free time in the long run.

  1. Teleseminars: Stop working exclusively one-on-one and interact with your prospects and customers. You can record them too and have them transcribed for easy product creation and content repurposing.
  2. Audio Information Products: These are so easy to create, it’s not even funny. In a matter of hours, you can put a new information product together.
  3. Podcasts and Blogs: These are easy to create and manage and can help you gain web traffic, credibility and new audiences. Podcasts are especially useful because they help your prospects and customers get to know you more intimately.
  4. Viral Video Marketing: Repurpose video and audio that you already have or create marketing videos and distribute them to the top video sites. People are literally becoming famous these days without even having to leave their homes.

Did any of these suggestions overwhelm you? Or perhaps you barely even know what they are. Remember, you only have so much time and you can’t be expected to do it all yourself.

That’s why so many entrepreneurs have turned to us to outsource their audio and video marketing and product creation needs. We’ve done the research and we already have the best tools so we can guide you through the process of implementing these new marketing and product creation strategies. It’s easier and less expensive than you think.

How Can a Donkey Save your Business & Your Life?

Horsesandolivaleavingandtsssemina_3 The business highlight of this month for Pat and me was attending Alex Mandossians Instant Teleseminar Secrets Alumni Seminar. We are firm believers that When you're green you grow and when you're ripe you're rotten, so we continue to attend seminars often! I hope you do too!

A golden nugget I want to share is a presentation from a bright, talented and generous couple named Pat & Lorna Shanks (gotta love anyone named Pat!). These two really stood out because even as participants they added so much value to the weekend. They embodied the attitude of "what I can do for you and your business?" and weren't there just looking for what they could get for themselves. Do you think they'll go farther, faster because of that one small distinction?

Besides the amazing number of new tips and resources we gleaned, we connected with some of the highest quality, confident, talented and inspiring entrepreneurs I've ever met all in one room. I am sure many new Joint Venture partnerships were forged!

Let me ask you, do you attend events regularly so that you can expand your network? Remember, your network is your NETWORTH! Even if you're not in a position to travel to a networking event, find out what's available in your local area. Have you checked out your own local Chamber of Commerce? Why not join and meet the movers and shakers of your own community for starters?

I picked up so much from

Besides the powerful presentation they shared (I promise we'll get to that in a moment) they donated their time to fund raising for Alex's favorite charity. As a group we were able to present Alex with a nice BIG check for SmartStartGiving. It just happened to be Alex's 44th birthday so that was a pretty cool gift, and couldn't have been appreciated more! Alexcheck_001

OK now for the presentation. As it turns out, Alex has a certain fondness for Donkeys too (we have two pet Donkeys)! He tells a great parable about Smuggling Donkeys in his Teleseminar Secrets Course.

In keeping with the theme, Pat and Lorna Shank created a spectacular video presentation about a little donkey with a HUGE message about resilience. If you have ever been at a place where you felt like giving up, you MUST watch this 2 min, 12 second presentation...and then pass it forward! This simple act may be the difference that makes the difference in your or someone else's life and business.

Enjoy!

The Last Lecture

When I work with coaching clients, in order to uncover their passion, their dreams, their "WHY", one of the exercises I give them is to do a stream of consciousness writing on the question: If I just found out I had 6 (healthy) months to live, how would I spend my time?

I just watched this profoundly touching video featured on Oprah that addresses this question better than anything I've ever seen. I invite you to watch it and then go out an pursue your dreams with the kind of passion inspired by the realization that any day could be your last and that you have the choice...and the power within...to make every moment you live a purposeful expression of who you aremeant to be!

How would you spend your last 6 months? This has become a very personal question recently as my father-in-law has been diagnosed with lung caner and doctors are telling him he has 6-12 months to live. At 84 he is still working because he loves to and just last week he remodeled his house. He's living each moment to the fullest doing what he loves to do.

Please leave a comment below after you watch the video. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

To Your Best!

MLM Cruise Review 2007

I received an email from Theresa Carter, a contact on the networking site "Linked In" in regards to our experience on the recent MLM Cruise hosted by Big Al. Theresa asked,

"How was the cruise? Care to share anything that specifically resonated with you?"

What a great question! As I reflect on the entire ten day trip, I can think of dozens and dozens of things that resonated with me. In fact, if it's possible, I'd have to say, I was resonating the entire time!

As it is every year, the best part of the cruise is connecting with networkers form all over the world. From brand new distributors, to company owners, to top money earners, there is absolutely every personality type aboard. We all learn so much from each other in a very relaxed and non-competitive environment. While we do have scheduled meetings during the days at sea, the best learnings come from just hanging out by the pool, at dinner, on the excursions, or over cocktails.

Here is a small sampling of the wisdom shared from my fellow networkers:

Jordan Adler (USA)- Most networkers who fail do so because they start and stop/start and stop their businesses. To win BIG you must be consistent. You don't "do" your business, you "live" your business!

Big Al (USA) - Shared a great ice breaker/pique interest - "I've got a good story. Takes about two minutes. Might make you a lot of money, might not. Want to hear it?" When they say "yes, sure," share your 2 min. presentation.

James Blakemore (USA) - It's true, you must help people find their big WHY but you must also help them name and get something they want immediately like new carpet, new furniture, a trip, etc. They need to focus on short term goals as well as the long term WHY.

Nikita Gromyko (Ukraine) - Wears a 'T' shirt to the gym that says Certified Retired MLM. People ask him all the time, "what is MLM?" Great ice breaker!

Michael Hoffer (Denmark) - Joined toastmasters and gives all of his talks on his business and products. The other participants naturally want to know more!

Big Al - talked about ways to freeze people's brains so they hypnotically give you 100% of their attention. One brain freeze is, "There's 2 types of people in the world...once you have their attention you can tell them anything related to your business. For example, There's two types of people in this world, those who live paycheck to paycheck and those who get an extra paycheck every week" Or, "There's two types of people in this world, those who struggle to lose weight and those who lose weight eating delicious cookies." Try coming up with your own brain freeze!

Todd Falcone (USA) -Talked about "Recruiting Up". Todd seeks out professionals for his business that already do what we do... like sales professionals. The criteria he looks for are:

  • They are paid on commissions and production
  • They have a moderate to high tolerance for risk
  • They are success minded

When he drives by a realtor's sign, he writes down the contact information and calls them. He simply asks, "Do you keep your options open for generating income outside of what you're currently doing?"

Anders Karlsson (Sweden) - Anders focuses on building relationships with people first and once they are in a "listening mode" he shares his business with them. Anders also shared some very funny stories. You had to be there!

Dakota Rea (USA) - shared how he builds a team of energetic young people by finding one motivated, influential Gen 'Y' person and they will bring in all of their friends. If you're not sure where to start, think of your own friends and their children. Who do you know that has a Gen Y child in college?

Sandy Elsberg (USA) - Reminded us that while our businesses are enjoyable, they are still work. To build a large organization you must have a system and you must work it consistently and you must teach your team to do the same. That's why we call it netWORK Marketing and not netPLAY Marketing!

Tracy Monteforte (Redwood Curtain) - Yes, I shared too. I encouraged people to position themselves as an expert by submitting articles to ezines, or starting their own newsletter or blog, or hosting teleseminars, or interviewing other experts. I emphasized that you don't have to be perfect to start. Anything worth doing is worth doing poorly AT FIRST. To grow you need to be willing to try new stuff!

If you haven't yet seen our newest Marketing Metaphor called EscarGROW it's about just this. It's at http://www.marketingmetaphors.com  (we made many more metaphors on the cruise...coming to a blog near you soon!)

I could go on; there were so many more great tips shared by amazing people. Like I said, the best learnings came from just hanging out and playing with these folks for a week in some of the worlds lushest environments (Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Cozumel).

If I could package up the experience and give it to you for the holidays, I gladly would. But this is one gift you simply have to go out and discover for yourself. I sincerely hope you will join us next year. The places you'll experience, the people you'll meet and learn from, the ideas you'll take home and implement all add a richness to your life and have the power to energize your business in a profound and powerful way. But for now...please enjoy the slide show below!

Wishing you a very warm & wonderful holiday
and an AWESOMELY Abundant & Joyful New Year!

Peace Out,
Power Gal
